In-Salon & Home Care Dermaroller

The In-salon or Professional Dermaroller Model CIT8 (0.5mm in length) is used for Collagen Induction Therapy, or better known as Skin Needling. This treatment is performed in the clinic only.

A numbing agent is applied to the skin and left to activate for a minimum time of 30 minutes after which the actual Collagen Induction Therapy (or Skin needling)  is performed. The skin needling takes approximately 30mins.

The In-Salon or Professional Dermaroller (model CIT8) is a hand held instrument studded with needles 0.5mm in length. It is gently rolled multiple times, back-and-forth in a star-like fashion over the whole area to be treated. The intrusion of tiny surgical needles is sensed by skin nerve receptors as an injury stimulus. But the needles are so fine and thin that there is no tissue damage. The cascade of the healing process begins. Skin cells, in a radius of 1 to 2 mm around the pricking channel, release growth signals to undifferentiated cells. These signals in return stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin fibres. As thousands of microscopic small needle-pricks are performed during one treatment, the induced collagen formation becomes confluent and forms a new collagen layer. This body reaction is called neo-collagenesis.

In addition, the inner cells that coat our vessels (endothelial cells), especially the capillaries, are stimulated to produce new capillaries. This, in turn, results in more and better blood supply of the skin. This reaction is called neo-angiogenesis.

There is hardly any downtime. After the procedure, the treated skin has the appearance of moderate sunburn which improves over the next 24 to 48 hours. Make up can be worn the following day.

The results are not instantaneous as it takes at least 100 days for collagen to be manufactured by the body once the treatment has been performed. Treatment effects are cumulative and a softening of fine lines and wrinkles will usually be seen within 6-8 weeks of each treatment. Over a period of 6-12 months, this new collagen slowly shortens and an added benefit is progressive tightening of the skin over the next few months.

An SPF of at least 20 is strongly advised for a week following the treatment.

The Dermaroller Skin Needling treatment is  very effective in treating fine lines and wrinkles around eyes, mouth, cheeks, neck and décolleté.  As well as all forms of acne scars, most surgical scars including facelift scars, abdominal scars, breast plastic operation, post liposuction scars, orthopedic scars, stretch marks and burn scars can safely be treated.

The typical area treated with In-Salon Dermaroller is the face for skin rejuvenation. It can be used to treat more difficult problems such as acne scarring and deep, ingrained wrinkles around the mouth, pores and surgical scars, with the exception of keloid scars.

Active inflammatory condition including active acne is a contra-indication to this treatment.

According to the individual skin condition, 3 to 4  procedures, separated by 6 to 8 weeks, are sufficient to resurface the skin. As ageing continues, we recommend one refresher-CIT (Professional Dermaroller treatment) every year. Between the CITs and after the last one, you can support the results of the CIT by using the Home Care Dermaroller in combination with Mesoestetic ampoule or Nimue serums.

The Home Care Dermaroller Model C8

The Home Care Dermaroller (model C8) contains 192 extremely fine microneedles and have a length of 0.15 mm. This length just penetrates the epidermis. As the needles are too short to reach the superficial dermal nerve sensors in the dermis, the treatment is absolutely painless. At the most you may feel some tickling. Side effects have never been reported.  THE HOME CARE DERMAROLLER is a non ablative instrument for SKIN IMPROVEMENT. This is how it works:

1. The fine needle tips will penetrate the blocked ducts and remove these “blockers” that cause skin disorders and inflammation (e.g. acne). As the gland ducts are kept open, the pore size reduces significantly.

2. Many women will experience acne that is associated with the monthly cycle. By using the Home Care Dermaroller on a regular basis, about 3 to 5 times a week, the transitional acne will disappear.

3. The more skin ages, the slower the rate of cellular regeneration. The uppermost scales start to dry out and lose their transparency – they look like a greyish layer. The needles of the Dermaroller will remove the grey scales.

4. The Dermaroller removes loose and dispensable scales on the stratum corneum, the skin has a softer feeling and finer texture.

5. Needles, even at a tiny length of only 0.15 to 0.18 mm, definitely have a physiological effect on the epidermis. They stimulate the production of new skin cells and encourage desquamation of old, “dead cells”. This cell stimulation in return results in a faster renewal cycle of the epidermis or increased cellular regeneration. Keratin scales have less time to age and to become grey. And microneedles bring another bonus to the epidermis: The uppermost layer will increase in thickness by 30% on average.
